About me

I'm Nir Marom, a clarinetist, conductor, and music educator. Alongside my performance career with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Meitar Ensemble, I have a deep passion for guiding the next generation of musicians.

For over a decade, I’ve been heavily involved in music education across Israel. I conduct the youth orchestra of the Administration for Rural Education and Youth Aliyah, direct ensembles at Blich High School and the Arava Community Center, and serve as the musical director for the Central Arava youth summer camp.

I studied clarinet with Eugene Yehudin at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University, then conducting and music theory with Evgeny Zirlin at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and earned a music teaching certificate at Givat Washington College. Master classes with Sharon Kam, Sabine Meyer, Giora Feidman, Anthony Pay, Håkan Rosengren and Eli Eban shaped how I play to this day.

  • Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra since 2012: assistant principal, second clarinet and E♭ clarinet
  • Concert tours with the orchestra to Japan, the United States, Dubai and Azerbaijan
  • Meitar Ensemble since 2024, on clarinet and bass clarinet and as a soloist. The ensemble has given more than 400 premieres
  • Soloist and guest player with the Israel Philharmonic, the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and the Jerusalem Wind Quintet
  • Played under Zubin Mehta and Kirill Petrenko
  • Master classes and mentoring at the CEME contemporary music festival
  • Conductor at the Klezmer Festivals in Safed and Jerusalem since 2021
  • Music director of the IDF Orchestra alumni ensemble and the Ramat HaSharon municipal orchestra
  • Volunteers regularly, playing for evacuees, in hospital rehabilitation wards and in care homes
